Jeff Stambaugh Takes 1st OVERALL in UTV Race at WORCS round 2

As the UTVs staged for their race the sun was setting and rain clouds were rolling in. Before they even left the line it started to sprinkle making the blue groove on the truck track slick and nasty on a track that was already 5 miles of whoops.

A total of 19 UTVS lined up for the race, the majority of which entered Class 2. Jeff started out strong in Class 3, taking the holeshot as it finally began to rain. As he entered the off-road, Stambaugh had 14 UTVs ahead of him, 5 miles of muddy, whooped out terrain - and one pair of roll-offs which Stambaugh declared, "Isn't enough! I went through a whole roll in like a lap and a half!"

As the UTVs bobbed and bounced in the off-road it got dark, and soon the spectators could only see lights in the distance while the rain came steadily down on everyone. As Stambaugh re-entered the truck track for his 2nd lap he had already passed most of Class 2 and looked like he was on a mission. By lap 3, he had passed most of the field and sat in a comfortable 3rd Overall. He then began chasing down two RZRs, one from Class 2 and one from Class 1.

On the last lap Jeff had managed to get around 2nd place and was pressuring 1st. There was a long section of pavement before you entered dirt again before the scoring chute, and it was right before this section that Stambaugh's competitor made a mistake and he didn't hesitate to  take advantage of it. He made the pass and kept it pinned while 2nd & 3rd place tried a few last efforts to get in front of him. As they came back on the dirt the two RZRs had gained some ground, but it was not enough. Jeff passed through the chute with a 1st in class and 1st overall.

"Initially I thought I had gotten 2nd, but someone said the guy I saw was broken and that was his only lap. I couldn't be happier with this finish!" Stambaugh stated, "A lot of people wanted RZRs because they have the bigger motor, and they are lighter, but that was a disadvantage here. My Rhino handled the whoops flawlessly thanks to my Lonestar/Elka setup, and Weller Racing kept me out front on the truck track!" Jeff Stambaugh currently leads UTV Class 3 in points and will be at Round 3 in March at Lake Havasu.
